Cultural Workshops and Talks

cultural workshops2Let us take you on a journey into east Africa to gain an insight into the day to day life and culture of a Tanzanian...

Alongside the work Nations Together carry out in Tanzania we also offer cultural talks to schools, clubs and societies. Through giving such presentations the organisation aims to expand the knowledge people have of such diverse cultures as those in Africa, specifically Tanzania, and in turn develop their awareness of different cultures generally.

By encouraging people to look at the Western world and make direct comparisons between that and Tanzania we are able to illustrate the acute differences there are relating to most aspects of day to day living. This also highlights the vast poverty and social issues many of those living outside the West have to deal with.

cultural workshops1Nations Together ultimately intend to help make people more aware of the contrasts between the different cultures, societies and lifestyles of countries around the world by drawing from the direct comparison of England and Tanzania. Consecutively we are able to raise awareness for our organisation and the work we do. All of this we hope to provide in a fun and interactive manner which will be enjoyable to the groups we speak to whilst leaving a lasting impression, inspiring people to help make a positive change in the world.

Our workshops can be tailored to suit the specific needs of each different group we speak to, from adapting the length of the talks through to the subject matter we discuss. By using artefacts and multimedia resources we provide a diverse and interactive experience looking at a variety of key aspects of Tanzanian life including diet, language and clothing.

With these talks we can also offer a particularly beneficial service to schools helping students and teachers meet the curriculum requirements whilst promoting team work, effective and positive communication, listening, respecting others, personal creativity and other such life skills to pupils. For other groups the workshops simply offer a fascinating insight into a very different culture to our own with information imparted from someone who has personal experience of Tanzania and its people – not just read from a book.
