Why Us?
Top Five Reasons to volunteer with Nations Together:
1. Preparation and support
2. Safety and peace of mind
3. Tanzanian coordinators
4. Directly helping communities
5. Responsible Travel
1. Preparation and support
Nations Together provide full and comprehensive support to all of our volunteers. From the moment you book your place with us we are on hand every step of the way to answer any of your questions, calm any of your qualms, provide any information you require and generally put a smile on your face.
You will be assigned your own, UK based, named coordinator who will help you tailor your trip to suit your needs and support you with the preparation for your trip. We will also send you our welcome pack, which details important information and guidance you will need during the run up to your departure for Tanzania.
Our aim is to ensure your experience is rewarding and fulfilling, beneficial to those who are in need of aid, as well as incorporating all of the tourist activities you may choose to be a part of your African adventure.
So whatever your need you can always be assured that Nations Together’s team of volunteer coordinators are available to help.
2. Safety and peace of mind
When you arrive in Africa you will have a Tanzanian coordinator assigned to your group. This is the person who will support you and offer any help and advice you may require throughout your stay. You will also be given their mobile number so you may contact them 24 hours a day with any issues or concerns.
Your coordinator will have an in-depth knowledge of Tanzania, and may even be Tanzanian, so you can be secure in the knowledge that you are being guided by someone who knows exactly what they are doing and what they are talking about. Also as a number of our coordinators are Tanzanian they also speak the native tongue, therefore language barriers will not be an issue. If however your coordinator does not speak the language a translator will be provided.
Nations Together volunteers stay within a secured site, which is manned by Ascari to ensure your complete safety during your time with us in Tanzania.
3. Tanzanian coordinators
Once you arrive in Tanzania your group will be appointed a Tanzanian coordinator who will be there throughout your stay in Africa. Where necessary there will also be a translator who will be able to assist with any language barriers that may arise. They will be on hand to advise you on which projects you may want to be involved with, how to invest you project money and to generally guide you through your days alongside offering support to you throughout your visit.
All of our Tanzanian coordinators are experienced and have an extensive knowledge of the country and its people. Therefore you can be secure in the knowledge that you will be safe, secure and advised correctly on the culture, customs, language, reputable businesses and individuals to deal with.
4. Directly helping communities
With Nations Together you keep all of the money you have raised with you. Once you have arrived in Tanzania you are then able to decide which projects you wish to fund and work on. This way you can be sure that every penny is spent with the communities we work with and how your money, time, effort and hard work has helped to make a positive change in another’s life.
Our organisation works directly within the communities that need our support, working together with them, local trades people and labourers. We take into account every aspect of a person or a community’s situation; listen to their needs alongside respecting their beliefs and culture.
Nations Together strive to provide sustainable solutions to those we help, offering them foundations on which to build upon, breaking the cycle of poverty and desperation many find themselves in. In turn through sourcing our materials and any additional labour from those local to the areas we work in, our organisation is able to re-invest back into the districts economy. This therefore ensures people have work and are able to earn a regular income.
5. Responsible travel
Due to the nature of the work Nations Together do in Tanzania we carry a particularly strong sense of the importance of responsible travel and what it entails. We work directly with the people living in the areas we support, listening to their wants and respecting their cultures and beliefs.
Our organisation does not dismiss any person’s ideas or opinions, or make unwanted changes regardless to what is needed or wanted. We invest the money raised by our supporters and volunteers into the local areas and ensure that we utilise resident workers and materials wherever possible. Thus we ensure that we aid the local economy, whilst trying to help break the cycle of poverty by employing Tanzanian residents.
